First Official Event
On October 2, 1992, Fresh Produce hosted its first official party: Raasleela, organized by Ricky Bonilla with Kaveh and Blair as Ocular Spectrum. From then on, Fresh Produce established itself as a cornerstone of Los Angeles rave culture—fusing sound, spirit, and community.
Mid-1990s Expansion
By the mid-90s, Fresh Produce had become a respected crew with its own roster of DJs, including Jesse Brooks, Eric Davenport, Oscure, and Ricky Breaks. Known for eclectic lineups and a dedication to underground sounds, Fresh Produce broke new ground by producing among the first Desert Raves with Positiveland in 1994, and also launching daytime raves. Sunny Side Up in May 1995 at Venice Beach Pavilion, pioneered a concept that would echo through the global scene for decades.
Legacy and Regatherings
The Fresh Produce story didn’t stop in the ’90s. Fresh Produce resident djs played countless events through the turn of the century. In 2009 with Spring Reunion and also in 2011, with Flammable Liquid reuniting for a Regathering at a Santa Monica warehouse, featuring Doc Martin, Steve Loria, Barry Weaver, Mark Lewis, Eli Star, and a live set by Electric Skychurch. The energy of those early days lived on, proving Fresh Produce’s enduring place in the DNA of L.A.’s rave culture.
Today
With over three decades of history, Fresh Produce continues to embody the values that sparked its creation: community, generosity, and the belief that music and togetherness can transform nights—and lives. From Los Angeles to global stages, Fresh Produce remains dedicated to curating experiences that are as fresh, vibrant, and nourishing as the fruit that started it all.
